Pumpkins, spookiness and colorful forests. Things that come to mind when we think of October. October marks the definitive end of summer.
We hope you were able to enjoy your last summer days, because that's definitely over now.
In October, not only do the leaves pile up on the ground, but bad hair days also increase exponentially. All too often we hear from our customers that their day is ruined when their hair goes on strike again. Our hair really does have a huge impact on our daily lives. However, a bad hair day is not something you just have to put up with, but a daily decision. It's a decision that not only affects our appearance, but also our state of mind.
As everywhere in life, the same applies here: "preparation is key!" which means "preparation is the key". The key to success, happiness or however you define it. But how do you prepare your hair optimally?
Well, we firmly believe that the condition of your hair in the morning is very much related to your evening routine. Perhaps you know it from your own experience: if you go to bed in the evening with grief, stress or worries, you are very unlikely to be truly refreshed the next day. The same applies to your hair, or rather how your hair looks the next day.
We have some tips on how you can escape bad hair day and strut through the day with a gorgeous mane every day.
1. don't go to bed with wet hair
Fun fact: Did you know that your hair can stretch up to 30% of its actual length when wet? And this is exactly where we have the first problem.
Wet hair is generally more sensitive because it is more flexible and breaks more quickly due to strong pulling movements. Now, if you go to bed with wet hair, you'll be rubbing your damp strands back and forth on the pillow for hours. As this breaks up the cuticle layer, your hair will suffer from split ends in the long run.
Split ends take away the shine and evenness of the hair. It makes them appear dry and may also make styling more difficult. Ergo = bad hair day
It is therefore important to always blow-dry your hair well before going to bed.
2. use a hair mask before you go to sleep
Beautiful hair is usually the result of the right care. And what could be more nourishing than a hair mask (for example the Elasticizer) that can be left on for 7 to 8 hours, i.e. during bedtime? Okay, okay... This might sound a bit controversial now, as we were just preaching earlier that you shouldn't go to sleep with wet hair. We know! However, we're not on the same page here.
After you have moistened your hair and applied the mask, wrap your hair in a microfiber cloth. Fasten the cloth as a kind of turban so that it doesn't fall off while you sleep.
The microfiber towel protects your sensitive and wet hair and prevents split ends.
3. apply a nourishing oil to the tips
If you're more of a morning shower person and don't want to put too much effort into your hair in the evening, we have a little tip for you. Apply a nourishing oil to your lengths and ends about 2 hours before you go to bed. This is particularly useful for hair that regreases quickly. The oil can be optimally absorbed into your lengths overnight and washed out again the next day.
However, washing out does not make your hair dry again. It only washes out the excess oil. If you have dry hair, it is advisable to apply the oil in the morning and evening.
4. Brush 100 times before you go to bed
You may remember the fairy tales of yesteryear where a girl's hair was brushed 100 times before she went to bed. Since the protagonists usually had very beautiful hair, this would mean that you should also include this in your evening routine, right?
Nonsense! Please don't do that! Excessive brushing will only fray your strands and weaken the hair shaft. Brushing your hair 100 times before going to bed is therefore an old misconception.
You wouldn't dream of brushing a cashmere sweater over and over again, as this would only lead to holes. Treat your hair just as gently: only brush it when it needs to look well-groomed and treat it with care.
5. tie your hair up
Long hair tangles quickly at night - so detangling it the next morning often becomes a time-consuming procedure that puts additional strain on the hair. And lo and behold, a bad hair day is on the horizon. But as we mentioned at the beginning: Preparation is key.
To counteract this, you should tie your hair up while you sleep. This not only protects the hair structure, but also gives you a great hairstyle the next day. Tie your hair into a loose bun at the top of your head. This will give you more volume and a slight bounce. If you want to wake up with waves the next day, braid your hair into a plait. Remember: the more plaits you braid and the tighter they are, the smaller and stronger your curls will be.
You can also thread your hair into two or more stockings and then wrap them around your head. This will give you a glamorous wavy look.
As you can see, there are countless variations and ways to avoid a bad hair day. But if you still have unruly, damaged or brittle hair and don't know what to do, we're here for you!
